Ana-Marie Lockyer, proud Mum of three growing teenage daughters, is the founding general manager of AA Money - a member focussed business with affordable solutions to help New Zealanders look after their financial wellbeing. Reporting to the Board she is responsible for development of its long strategic direction and leadership and ownership of the company’s growth, profitability, culture, and organisational reputation. She is also Independent Director and Chair for boutique funds management organisation, Pie Funds Management Limited, who also manage Juno KiwiSaver Scheme. Self-professed areas of expertise include general management, financial services, strategy, customer experience and governance following twenty years in funds management and banking senior management and banking senior management and executive roles and she is passionate about diversity in financial services and improving financial literacy following a ten year stint at ANZ where she managed the lifecycle management of their wealth products including executive responsible for the country’s largest KiwiSaver Scheme.
It Starts With Action Summit
The FSC team, campaign leaders and industry supporters celebrated the successes of It Starts With Action, reflected on the lessons learned, and looked to the next steps on Thursday 28 July.
The Summit welcomed young diversity and inclusion trailblazers, financial wellbeing champions, industry CEOs, politicians, regulators and media to this culmination of the three month pan-sector It Starts With Action campaign.
Karakia and opening addresses
Sharron Botica, Chief Customer Officer of AIA New Zealand leads the day with a karakia, followed by a welcome from our CEO Richard Klipin and Chairman Rob Flanagan. Women in Super Tracey Cross and General Manager of AA Money Ana-Marie Lockyer give an overview of impacts of our 3-month long It Starts With Action campaign, and whether we shifted the dial. We share our declaration in which we commit to the ongoing goal of raising the financial wellbeing of Kiwi women.
Keynote speech from Minister for Women, Hon. Jan Tinetti
Minister for Women and Internal Affairs and Associate Minister of Education Jan Tinetti delivered the keynote address at the Summit, where she shared her experience with learning about money, the commitments she’s made and the work in education that needs to be done. She then answers questions from our audience and our #LetsTalkAboutMoney conversation cards with Ana-Marie Lockyer, General Manager of AA Money.
CEO Panel
Our CEO panel made up of ANZ New Zealand CEO Antonia Watson, Kiwi Wealth CEO Rhiannon McKinnon, Smartshares CEO Hugh Stevens and FMA Chief Executive Samantha Barrass discuss what they are doing in their organisations around the gender pay gap, their personal relationships with money and the unequal labour of raising children while working. Facilitated by finance journalist Frances Cook.
Address from Retirement Commissioner + Bridging the Gender Retirement Gap Panel
Retirement Commissioner Jane Wrightson speaks on the origins and need for the It Starts With Action campaign, followed by a passionate panel of Dr. Pushpa Wood from Massey University, Christina Leung from NZIER, Sarah Whitelock of Mercer, Nick Summerfield, partner at Anthony Harper and Hugh Stevens, CEO of Smartshares. Frances Cook facilitates a discussion on female empowerment, opportunities and culture changes.
Update and Young Trailblazers Panel
It Starts With Action lead and our Head of Communications and Content Clarissa Hirst gives an update on the campaign, and facilates a panel of young trailblazers including Simran Kaur of Girls That Invest, Te Rina West and Menorah Coombe from YWCA and Sarah Kelsey of The One Up Project. The panel discuss accessibility, social media and the Māori and Pasifika communities before challenging the finance industry.
